Professional, creative and versatile are just a few words to describe Dj Mennis.

Best known for his ability to energize any crowd or demographic, Dj Mennis has been mastering his craft for over 15 years through a broad variety of genres, venues, and audiences across the United States.

 

Dj Mennis’ diverse music background began in Jamaica where reggae, ska, and several other island favorites played as a montage to his early years. During this time he was also given the nickname of “Mennis” as a combination of his first and last name. At the age of 6, Matt or “Mennis” and his family relocated to Maryland where genre’s such as Rock, Alternative-Rock, Hip-Hop, Top-40 & Go-Go was more of an influence. During this time, Matt’s uncles were part of a DJ crew in New Jersey where he would spend his summer vacations. Around the age of 12, Matt naturally took an interest in djing and started learning the craft of mixing to eventually join his uncles in performing around the New Jersey/New York area at venues he was not even old enough to attend.

 

As an accomplished athlete, Matt later received a wrestling scholarship to the prestigious Lehigh University in Pennsylvania where he first started working on the radio station WLVR as an on-air personality and DJ. During this time Matt continued to perform at events for the University as well as clubs in the Allentown and Philadelphia area. After graduating with a degree in Finance, Matt moved to Orlando, FL where he continued to DJ in nightclubs while pursuing his career in business. Being a true Jamaican and a work-a-holic, he always maintained a successful business career during the days while performing at different venues at night as well as coaching wrestling. Successes in his career led Matt to relocate and set up Dj residence in various large cities including Columbus-OH, West Palm Beach-FL & Miami-FL for several years at a time. In 2012 Matt decided to take his talents from Miami to Southern California where he is now based and continues to perform, work and coach.  

 

With a passion for music and entertaining, he is gifted with a unique ability to mix, scratch, and emcee; taking listeners on a musical journey and making him a fan favorite.
